Glen Winters: Reigniting the Spirit of Classic, Progressive, and Pop Rock!
Glen Winters, an accomplished American musician and writer, brings a fresh breath of authenticity to the realms of Classic and Progressive Rock. Rooted deeply in these genres, Glen’s artistic journey began in the scenic Hudson Valley, just north of New York City. His passion for music goes beyond mere performance; it’s about reviving the soul of Rock with genuine, heartfelt expression.
Renowned in the music scene for his skills as a drummer and session singer, Glen also excels as a commercial writer. His multifaceted talent enables him to weave intricate musical narratives that resonate with nostalgia and innovation.
Embarking on a bold new venture, “The Glen Winters Project,” he aims to reinvent and reenergize the essence of Classic style melodic Rock. This project isn’t just music; it’s a movement, bringing together the echoes of the past and the vibrant pulse of the present.
Once upon a magical time, you could turn on the radio and listen for hours without turning the dial. The melodic hard rock of the 70s-early 80s was everywhere: blasting from boom boxes, car stereos, and out the windows of most suburban American homes. Bands like Jefferson Starship, Chicago, Deep Purple, and Loverboy ruled the airwaves. If you’re in a specific age range, you not only remember that era with deep fondness but also have a physical reaction when you hear that music today. We transport back to a simpler time when we didn’t have to listen to music that’s 40 years old to hear a great song.
Today, there are loads of tribute bands doing a great job of paying homage to the bands of that era with faithful recreations of those classic songs. What if there was a band that combined the nostalgia trip with new original music?
The Glen Winters Project is that band! Our whole vibe hearkens back to the era when lyrics meant something, when melody, riffs, and soaring vocals brought the music to life. We released our first album of original music, When I Feel Like This, in 2021, and our follow-up record, Show On The Road, droped on Dec 4th in time for the holidays. Both albums are filled with hook-laden, fist-pumping anthems we haven’t heard in decades.
Look out for the release of “Show on the Road” on December 4th, 2024, and don’t miss Glen Winters and his band at their live MD showcase on January 4th, 2025!

What Are or Have Been Your Musical Influences?
From an early age, music played a central role in my life, thanks to my parents, who exposed us to a wide variety of styles—from classical and jazz to rock. This early exposure fostered an eclectic taste that shaped my musical journey.
As a young musician, I gravitated toward playing ’70s rock, drawing inspiration from bands like Chicago, Deep Purple, The Doobie Brothers, UFO, Yes, and many more. These artists instilled in me a love for powerful melodies, intricate arrangements, and dynamic performances.
Later in my career, my tastes shifted toward a hook-driven, melodic Top 40 rock style, blending the timeless energy of classic rock with the catchy appeal of contemporary music. This evolution continues to influence my songwriting and performances, creating a sound that bridges eras and resonates with a wide audience.
