The “Gimp” started writing songs when he was 5 years old in Melbourne, FL. He had a stroke when he was seven. Gordon got the derogatory name “Gimp” when a kid named Billy beat him up in the sixth grade at Silver Lakes Middle School in North Lauderdale. The Gimp stated he hated the name until he was a freshman in high school at J.P. Taravella when his classmate Phil McNeill called him that randomly after Gordon tripped over himself and turned beet red, and after he burst out in laughter. Awkwardness is priceless. He adopted the Hip Hop name “The Gimp.” He cites that he was shocked when his best friend, Phil, died in the Iraq War in January 2007. He keeps the name to honor his friend.
The Gimp released fifteen records over the last seventeen years. The personification of D.I.Y., the Gimp, built a foundation in networking, a studio, and his record label from scratch. In the song The Disturbed, he states that he “wanted to get signed, so he started his own record label.” His newest record is an EP called Auditory Hallucinations. He released the single, Madness Returns. Stagger is his music maker and the COO at his record label, Ethereal Matter.
Gimp is a two-time Grammy Awards attendee. Ethereal Matter came to be after the Gimp wanted to incorporate his Limited Liability Company, Hallowed Ground. He chose the name in honor of his sister Brandy, who lost her battle with cancer in 2018. Ethereal Matter means “too perfect for this realm, something otherworldly.” That is precisely what the Gimp wants to reflect in his songs- pure, unique, creative rhyme schemes and originality, or something otherworldly.
