What Musical Genre Do You Feel Best Describes Your Music And How Would You Describe Your Sound?
We are striving to curate our own genres titled ” Laid back musik” and “musical vibrations”. We feel this best describes the music we produce as a whole.
How Did You Get Your Name? Is There A Story?
I got my name accidentally at the end of high school by friends always making fun of my nerdy yet sinister personality. ” you ol conceptual convict” was the line a friend shot at me in fun. From there i became Concept! Conceptual Brim is the self proclaimed evolution of Concept. Its means ‘”the main idea in full fruition”.
What Are or Have Been Your Musical Influences?
That would be an enormous list starting with whatever records my mom played when i was growing up! I can express that I am moved by the spirit of those artist that truly believe in themselves and their music. Not with arrogance but moreso eloquence.
What Are You Working On Now? Any Future Collaborations We Can Look Forward To?
Right now we are working on branding our works and dropping tasty singles from the 500AREA PROJECT. I am currently in collaboration co-artist Tayshawn Benson (TayB) and his company Smashboiproductions (Instagram @Smashboiproductions)
I will also be in cahoots with 500AREA partner Vaco (Instagram @Vaco24seven) on upcoming works.
What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? What Is Your Plan Of Action?
I my greatest achievement would consist of public notoriety and airtime. Thats it! All else will fall into place with those 2 things.
What Is Your Favorite Track To Perform Live and Why?
My favorite track to perform is “RESPECTABLE ” which is currently not released. This track is in the likeness and energy of NUCLEUS AND THE JAM ON REMIX. So it is a super fun song to perform anywhere!
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?
The biggest challenge has been confidence. I grew up very suppressed and schools didn’t like how articulate i was in questioning inconsistencies. I became soft spoken and was always told to speak up. This didn’t help when i started writing music. I could never perform the lyrics i wrote. Overcoming that has been the most deep rooted challenge thus far
What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?
I don’t have one unfortunately. Some songs have to catch up to you. The spirit is always one step ahead. This could take time. It could be instant. I am a married father of seven kids and have a lot of things going on in life; so my focus is being demanded in a lot of different directions at once. This plays its part in the process. I would love to have a album making paid vacation one day lol.
How Has Social Media Influenced Your Career As An Artist?
I am a new infamous independent artist without much following. I need more time to figure it out as things are slow right now.
What Are Some Tracks and Artists Currently On Your Playlist?
Currently i don’t indulge in other music. I love music so much and have so much influence to express already. I don’t want to be impressed by artist because it could influence my creative process. I want to stick to what i got full steam with no stops and then start listening once I’m done with my projects.
What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music?
I have always been around music. Since i could get up and walk to children’s sunday school class alone i was in the choir tenor section. I wrote my first rhyme in 2nd grade for a report on Ferdinand Magellan. I wrote poems for girls in middle school. My first time incarcerated , i wrote songs for top ramen noodle packs and coffee because i was broke. I also went to college for 1st year piano and midi production. I have always been around music.
Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?
My only advice is become your own biggest fan and worst critic. Never fear the ever changing opinion of others. PASSION is a strong weapon against the negative forces in life.
What Would You Change In The Music Industry If You Were A Top Music Executive?
I really don’t know enough to change it. I would create a platform or label solely for independent artist to basically be a part of the contract making process. Individually designed contracts or deals that can be positively negotiated between all parties.
How Do You Feel About Originality?
I feel originality is definitely an essential element in the creating process or production of music. Emulation by way of imitation is a copyright violation! The feel and sound becomes depreciated from having such wide variety of brands with the same ingredients.
