Artists Name/Band: Aiden Pierce
Bio
I’m a retired ex-military Texas native now living in Hawaii. I’ve been involved with music in one way or another my entire life. It became an obsession when I was asked to audition for a TV show called, “ Kids Incorporated.” It was the same time that Martika was starring on the show. I didn’t get the job, but just the fact that someone heard me singing and thought that I was good enough to audition ..THAT made me feel like I had made it. I’m like that now., I appreciate the things that most would ignore. I’m thankful for any and every opportunity and I realize that it all could stop at any second, so I take it all in. I want to have fun. If it doesn’t feel like fun then I don’t want to waste my time or anyone else’s. There isn’t any pressure or expectations on me and that opens my creativity up. I really get a chance to have fun & do what I want with music now. That’s what’s most important to me. I like all genres. Pop music however has always been my favorite. I like trying out different sounds, different types of beats & melodies. Sometimes it works & sometimes it doesn’t…But….THAT IS WHAT I LOVE… THE EXPERIMENTING… THE LEARNING..THE MISTAKES. Sometimes the mistakes can turn into the best parts of a song. I started out making only instrumental music and it was interesting. I have been asked recently to include my instrumental songs back in my releases from past and future and I was planning on doing that already. I have a huge collection of my own music not on sale, just for myself to enjoy and improve on. I am working on new music in some form almost daily. I should be coming out with more material SOON….Fingers Crossed.
What Musical Genre Do You Feel Best Describes Your Music And How Would You Describe Your Sound?I’ve always said Pop. Someone close to me told me that is was more like Cartoon Pop. While they said that it wasn’t meant to be a putdown, I actually liked that description. So if there was a category that I could put it in myself, it would be Cartoon Pop. It sits on the edge of it all. Its not rap, its not quite, pop, its just a more or less a touch of everything. I set out to just create and whatever comes out at the end as a finished project is what we get. I’m usually more surprised than others at some of the things I’ve created because I can’t recall working on a lot of them. I lose myself in the project. It’s as if someone else takes over. If I am too present in the moment then nothing good gets accomplished. I know it sounds odd, but I need a certain feeling to wash over me and then I know… GAME IS ON.
How Did You Get Your Name? Is There A Story?Aiden Pierce just came to me. I didn’t really think about it. I just heard it in my head and decided that was what I would go with. It wasn’t until recently that I found out that it was a popular name because of some video game or something. But, that had no influence whatsoever. I still don’t know if that is a character or a game itself.
What Are or Have Been Your Musical Influences?OF COURSE, the one and only Jackson Family. They have influenced so many. They got me into music, but also into dancing. Then of course…Prince. When I heard the drums in the song ‘When Doves Cry” I was captured… hooked.. any and everything he released, with or without his name, I had to somehow find. He is actually releasing a new album any day now. Then there was nobody specific as far as names, but Country and Tejano music was playing in my house so that influenced me as well.
What Are You Working On Now? Any Future Collaborations We Can Look Forward To?I put out a song called “Crown Rising” a couple years ago and it just didn’t sit well with me. I pulled it from stores and said that would do it all over and I am doing that now. I just finished the new drum beats and that feeling I said that I had to get washed all over me.. They are sick……My mother teases me that my drum beats always have a tribal vibe and then sounds that could be interpreted as possibly from Asian countries start coming out. When I look to see how those songs have done and what cities and countries they did best in….She isn’t exactly wrong.
What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? What Is Your Plan Of Action? I really only ever wanted to see my music sitting next to someone that was a big time artist. When my very first single came out, it was sitting in between Ke$ha and Whitney Houston on iTunes. I wanted my family to see that what I said that I always wanted to do.. I would finally do. I have accomplished what I wanted. I won’t stop. Everything that happens from here on is an extra bonus. This interview is an amazing thing. I see things try different than most people. I won’t stop pushing, I won’t work less. I work because I want to. I work because I love it. If someone listens, buys or streams my music, that means the world to me. There is no plan to dominate the world because I feel that anyone that is going to do that most likely has already been chosen. If I am wrong, great… I am right here…prove me wrong..lol
What Is Your Favorite Track To Perform Live and Why? I have never gotten a chance to perform my music.
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?Staying focused on one thing at a time. My mind wants to do so many things at once when it comes to music that it gets frustrating. Songs especially… I have so many half written songs that I say that will come back to, but..just haven’t yet.
What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?I can be asleep and I can start to hear a melody and words repeating over and over and I jump up grab my phone, turn the recorder on and start spitting out what comes.. The song I recently released called, ” I Pay” both versions were done in one day. I’m talking lyrics and music. The music I used in those were MIDI form. I think It’s like coding more or less. Its extremely time consuming but….the music came out really well. The drum beats had an Prince undertone to it.. I loved it. All of my strictly instrumental songs areal MIDI form.
How Has Social Media Influenced Your Career As An Artist?I used to pay attention to what was going on on social media. But since it seems like almost every other person has lost their minds or every person wants to put down everyone else..I have no time for any of that. Also, when you can’t ask questions or you get warned for doing so…THAT should worry everyone. I think that if your an artist you should stick to your job and make music. Stop trying to jump in an take one side over another. The only type of artist that will come out as a social justice anything for either the right or the left….is an artist that has too much money and too many fans and doesn’t care about losing any from one area or both. They should really just stick to their job and sing.
What Are Some Tracks and Artists Currently On Your Playlist?Iggy Azalea – I Am The Stripclub, Prince – Welcome 2 America, Michael Jackson – Do You Know Where The Children Are, Niykee Heaton – Bad Guy, Alice Chater – Girls X Boys (KNOXA Remix), Little Mix – My Love Won’t Let You Down and I wont lie….. Me.LOL..Aiden Pierce – Me, Bitch
Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?Be true to yourself. Stay dedicated, motivated. Take chances with different sounds. Don’t get discouraged and don’t let anyone else’s hatred get in your way. People will try to throw you off track and put you down just because it’s a day of the week that ends in Y. They are unhappy individuals and nothing and nobody in the world can make miserable bitter people happy. Remember why you wanted to do this in the first place and how much you love it.
How Do You Feel About Originality?I think everyone should be original. I personally think that singers that have a handful of writers to write their songs is great for them. That isn’t exactly their song though ..is it? I would love to have help some times. But, if I don’t come up with the beat, the melody, the arrangement, the artwork, then it isn’t me, it isn’t my product. it doesn’t get to have me put my name on it and put out for fans because that would be A LIE.I cannot stand liars, if you have to lie or exaggerate, then why say or do it. Always be original.. Unless you want to do a cover….then …Well…it’s a cover…then it’s time to be respectful and pay homage.
Is There Anything Else We Should Know About You Or That You Would Like to Add?I’m very thankful for this opportunity. I am hopefully going to be releasing once again my very early work of strictly instrumental songs. Specific ones picked from each album and put out on a future release…Thank You again.
