Bio
Music has always been an important part of my life. I grew up listening to my brother’s rock and roll records…it was my getaway as a young child and teenager. I learned guitar at an early age but didn’t play in a band until after I joined the US Air Force. Songwriting and recording is an on-going process and I hope to continue doing this for as long as possible. Cheers and happy listening!!

What Musical Genre Do You Feel Best Describes Your Music And How Would You Describe Your Sound?
My main musical genre is rock. In regard to my sound, many of my songs are acoustic driven, with a laid back rock feel.
How Did You Get Your Name? Is There A Story?
Roman was my grandfather’s name and my father’s middle name. Over the years, many people thought my first name was Jaye and Roman was my last name.
What Are or Have Been Your Musical Influences?
Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Beatles, Lynyrd Skynrd, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Eagles (just to name a few).
What Are You Working On Now? Any Future Collaborations We Can Look Forward To?
I have several songs to finish writing and arranging before I’m ready to record. No collaborations at this time.
What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? What Is Your Plan Of Action?
I just want my songs to be exposed to the global audience and I believe my songs are worthy of that attention. Music has always been my first love and I have put many hours into honing my craft.
What Is Your Favorite Track To Perform Live and Why?
Unfortunately, I have not played live in several years, but I do want to get back on stage if these songs can get some needed recognition.
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?
For starters, it is very difficult getting your songs heard (either on the radio or getting record labels to notice)
What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?
Normally it starts with a melody line or chord structure as the foundation in which I can build upon.
How Has Social Media Influenced Your Career As An Artist?
Yes, I do have exposure on Reverbnation and a page on Facebook (Roman Jaye Music).
What Are Some Tracks and Artists Currently On Your Playlist?
I listen mostly to classic rock bands and not much of any newer artists.
What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music?
I served in the US Air Force for 29 years, but I have been involved in making music during and after my service.
Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?
Keep writing, keep playing and don’t let disappointments bring you down. You will have many along the way…the music industry can be brutal at times.
What Would You Change In The Music Industry If You Were A Top Music Executive?
Maybe bringing back the idea of A&R people doing what they should be doing. With the internet, I believe that A&R people going out to clubs or events to watch a band live, and seeing that potential firsthand, is almost a thing of the past. With a click of the mouse, that part of the job is done.
How Do You Feel About Originality?
It can be hard to be an original since there are only so many notes and chords you can play. Just stay true to yourself and your craft.
Is There Anything Else We Should Know About You Or That You Would Like to Add?
As previously stated, I hope my songs can be heard by people all over the world and are very relatable to all age groups.
