Bio:

Alan Baxter is a native Nashvillian, but didn’t discover his love of music writing until his retirement from 30 years of government service. From the first song written in 2017, Mama’s Sparkling Eyes, Alan has gone on to write over 600 songs. He has managed to produce 16 of his songs.

What Musical Genre Do You Feel Best Describes Your Music And How Would You Describe Your Sound?
Started out mainly writing Contemporary Christian, but since then I have written Country love songs, honkie tonk, etc. Have a total of 624 songs written. I have personally published 14 songs.

How Did You Get Your Name? Is There A Story?

I’m adopted, Kyle is my original sir name, but Baxter is my family name. Kyle is an old Scottish name for a group of highway men. Original castle still stands in Scotland, with an escape route down to the river, in case they were raided by Scottish / English authorities.

What Are or Have Been Your Musical Influences?

Ray Walker, Sonney James, Brenda Lee.

What Are You Working On Now? Any Future Collaborations We Can Look Forward To?Currently I am revising songs I have not yet published, which is a hard task, see that I have about 615 songs not published yet.

What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? What Is Your Plan Of Action?To have a top ten song on both the Chrisitan and Country charts.

What Is Your Favorite Track To Perform Live and Why?

Darkness, Robot Heart. Havent had these songs sung live but I feel like with enough exposure a artist will pick these songs up.

What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?

Get a producer to be interested in my songs. With a est 60,000 song writers, the competition is tease. My wife retired from Gather / Colombia Music a few years back. So, I am aware it takes lost of work, revising each song. Then wait for that special moment.

What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?

Idea comes to mind, write lyrics, add chorus, bridge line, revise.

How Has Social Media Influenced Your Career As An Artist?

Some, I really go with my own thoughts. Those songs that are available on social media, have been well received.

write lyrics down on legal pad, edit, edit, edit, until lines rhyme and I am satisfied with the flow of the song.

Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?Yes! Never give up, Ive been writing now for three years. Expect to be turned down, but keep writing. The moment will come.

What Would You Change In The Music Industry If You Were A Top Music Executive?

The way music is accepted. I understand all artist want to keep their music out front. Yet there is so much talent undiscovered out here, have special individuals who look for new talent.

How Do You Feel About Originality?

It is a most for song writers, one of the many comments I have had with my music is, wow your songs are thought provoking and original.
