About Me
Started in the automotive parts and service business 1977. Worked for Toyota, BMW, Peugeot, Saturn, CJDR, Nissan. Married ib ‘81. 3 kids, 5 grandkids. Retired in 2019.
Like most kids in the south, grew up singing in church and school. I always was playing around with music and trying to write. Wrote my first real song about 30 years ago, The BBQ Song, which been heard in several different countries. Wrote another a couple years later, Marry Me.
When I retired I really started playing and writing. Piano was my go to instrument. Bought a hundred dollar Epiphone and started learning some blues licks. Started playing some open mics and one night three guys joined in and for the first time I knew what my songs could sound like. Marc, the keyboard player was very encouraging and added fuel to my desire to record my songs. I’ve got around 30 songs so far, mostly blues, couple country, and some Christian songs.
The Band
Band was thrown together for recording purposes only. Marc Purecelli-Keyboards, Rob DiMauro-Drums and Dylan Alexzander-Turner on bass were the guys that joined in at open mic night. Bubba Joe Evans-lead guitar and Gary Ford-harmonica I met at the Blue Note, a long standing supporter of BBQ and blues. RJ Pitts came in for sax, and James Lugo and Robert Daugherty stepped in for some last minute guitar work. I played keys and guitar. Without them, it’s just words on a piece of paper.

The master was finished and distributed CD Baby.. This release will feature 6 songs of different rhythm and styles. The digital and CD release happened around the first week of April 2021.
I have recorded 10 more using paid musicians and singers. All of these songs were released digitally. After spending approx 20k for studio time and musicians, I started using an ai app that I purchased. Again I have written all the songs, edited and re-recorded these songs, basically paying for musicians and singers.

What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? What Is Your Plan Of Action?
I’m 72 years old so as much as I would like to think I could take my stuff on the road I’m not sure if I could make that happen. I’d need to put together a band plus all the other things that go along with traveling, sound, transportation. So probably sell and write for an existing band or musicians.

The BBQ Song and The Valley get some of m best reactions and comments.
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?
Getting heard by the right people. I’ve been on several internet radio stations, a couple in the States and 1 UK station.
What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?
Most of the time the music comes first. I’ll record it on my phone so I don’t loose it. That way I can listen to it on walks, driving, etc. The Valley part of S.F.T.S. collection, I wrote probably 35 years ago. I had music and everything, It was just missing something. AI helped me find the sound I was looking for. I also get lines from life, sermons, lying in bed at night, get up and write it down.
How Has Social Media Influenced Your Career As An Artist?
Definitely more people are able to hear it than just word of mouth, which is basically word of mouth on steroids.
What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music?
I worked in automotive parts and service from 1977 to 2019. Started as a delivery boy and made my way up to fixed operations mgr. My brother and I used to sing a lot of Simon and Garfunkel. He was Paul I was Art.
Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?
Become fluent with your instrument and or voice, learn more than one, taken lessons, play with other musicians.
Write about things people can relate to.
What Would You Change In The Music Industry If You Were A Top Music Executive?
Make it easier to get music heard. There are so many talented people with awesome music that never get heard, just as there are mediocre people with OK songs on the radio every day.
How Do You Feel About Originality?
Very important to have your own stuff even if you are playing covers. Not everyone can afford paying for studio and musicians, so I think using AI to help is OK. It wouldn’t exist if they didn’t create it.
Is There Anything Else We Should Know About You Or That You Would Like to Add?
I try to tell a story in everything I write knowing that there is someone out there going through or feeling the same way.
