Ronald Jay Newkirk II,
What Musical Genre Do You Feel Best Describes Your Music And How Would You Describe Your Sound?
I am a blend of historical Hip Hop, that is formed into a genre, I like to call Rip Rock. My 2 favorite artist are Tupac, and the Notorious B.I.G. My flow is like no other, and my method is relentless.
How Did You Get Your Name? Is There A Story?
I grew up in the heat of Hip Hop and Rap. My Nickname used to be Tupac. Crazy right! Getting older, I went through a lot of pain and stress. I made a lot of mistakes as far as trusting others with my goals. Through that, I looked back at my life, and the only thing I could see was lessons learned. So I took on the name Lessonz. Later on, I put More reference to it. And became LZ, which means, coming in blazing hot.
What Are or Have Been Your Musical Influences?
Jay Z is my go to artist. I look to him for certain qualities and designs. He’s efficient and knows his surroundings. Being aware is confidence in it’s self.
What Are You Working On Now? Any Future Collaborations We Can Look Forward To?
My brother is also a artist. So we are linking up for future songs and albums.
What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? What Is Your Plan Of Action?
My goal is to be the best. I am not only a artist but producer also. I come to become something. My model, don’t just go for what you know, but also thrive and continue even when it seems hopeless.
What Is Your Favorite Track To Perform Live and Why?
My favorite track would be, “Baby I’m Famous”. It’s the King of my percussion of who I am. When I did the track, all I could see was winning. So Everytime I listen or rap to it. The spark of hearts comes out. Saying, to be the best, you must obtain the best.
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?
Getting over the hump, of being looked over and denied. I have great songs, and sometimes jealousy discredits people. And their feelings get hurt. But I keep at it, because if I allow that to breach my level. The best of the best, will not get to the top. LZ.
What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?
I write from the heart. I understand that the simple things come in big packages.
How Has Social Media Influenced Your Career As An Artist?
It’s taken me to certain heights. I really appreciate the fans backing me up also. Be blessed y’all.
What Are Some Tracks and Artists Currently On Your Playlist?
None as of the moment.
What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music?
In particular, I freestyled my ass off. If I wasn’t freestyling, I was writing, and vice versa.
Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?
Don’t QUIT!!!
What Would You Change In The Music Industry If You Were A Top Music Executive?
The way individuals aspire to become musicians. Some people are not meant to be musicians, and that’s just the truth. But life is life, and acts are actions.
How Do You Feel About Originality?
Real talk. You sound like whoever you want, just as long as you write your own music!
Is There Anything Else We Should Know About You Or That You Would Like to Add?
I love peace, so go in peace.
