Leron Kattan,

How Did You Get Your Name? Is There A Story?
My name is Truse. The word Truce can mean, “A laying down of weapons by two warring countries.” My message aligns with that wording. To bring peace to a world that is warring.

What Are or Have Been Your Musical Influences?
Bob Marley, Talib Kwali, Dave Matthews Band, John Lennon, Rage Against the Machine, Mos Def, Wu-tang, Mobb Deep, Tupac, Eminem, Damian Marley, Naz, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Binary Star, Lupe Fiasco

What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?
I go into the studio and start feeling this energy movement within me to write. The lyrics come as if a torrent. They enter my mental like a tornado and push forth with force. A certain power that wants to reach others comes through.

How Do You Feel About Originality?
Original music is what makes us listen. Look how much music affects people. It is ineffable. No one can really put it into words why music has such an affect on people. But there it is. It touches people, it inspires and uplifts. I feel as a musician it is my obligation to be original and to use words to inspire non-violence.

Is There Anything Else We Should Know About You Or That You Would Like to Add?
I grew up in Los Angeles, I was able to learn a lot about music at a very young age. I also play guitar and have a couple of songs I wrote and sing. One of them is an anti-war song about the tragic effects of war. I believe as an individual it is my duty to wake up so as to be a truer version of myself every moment. I hope my music resonates with people and touches them. That it uplifts their spirit. I suffered from a depression for many years and I got out of it. I got out by realizing there is another dimension to my pain. There are a lot of factors that contributed to my liberation from depression. There is nothing in this world that is all bad. Even though when we are depressed it seems that way, there is a way out. I was able to come out of my darkness, have my daughter Sadie Jane, and make music that people seem to like. Much love…
