Bio

My Name is Brian J Patton Sr. I’m 35 years old and I was born on the Eastside of Long Beach, CA. Growing up with six siblings was kinda rough, but also fun. Five brothers and a cousin, who was raised like a sister. My mother was a single parent who worked as far as my memory goes back. As a family we stuck together, lived with my grandmother, cousins, and aunts so you know there was never a dull moment. All we needed was us!

Piling into the cars, vans, and trucks on Sundays to go to church and get our praise on is what we did every Sunday. Sunday School, then church and after church, it was Churches Chicken. We’d go home and rest our nerves before going back to 3:30 PM service. It was fun, but sometimes you know I had to fake a stomach ache so I could stay home and play basketball. We all went to the same school and trust me, you mess with one, you mess with us all.

I remember going to Head Start on the Northside of Long Beach until I got kicked out. My aunt was a teacher so I remember her son and I, my cousin, were also in her class that was located in Watts, CA. Not long after, my mom and brothers found a place and we moved out of my grandparent’s home, but of course we didn’t move far, it was still in Long Beach. Although we’d moved out, we’d go visit every chance we got.

Long Beach Scorpios Drill Team and Drum Squad is what I looked forward to on the weekends. The men, of course we were just boys at the time, would play drums while the women were in the drill team.
