Jessi Rose, from New York, went to school for graphic design and photography at Western Connecticut State University but recently decided to take a career shift into following her dreams to become a very successful singer/songwriter. She’s been singing since she was a little kid and did chorus, musicals, acapella, karaoke, and open mics. Jessi Rose loves to sing and finds singing very therapeutic as a great way to express herself. She’s in a metal band called SplatterHead! Their music is on all music streaming platforms. Jessi Rose took a songwriter class and performed at the Ridgefield Playhouse with her original ballad song “The Shadows Within Me.” In addition, all her originals are on all music streaming platforms! Lately, she’s been writing songs, practicing her piano and guitar skills, getting voice lessons, practicing with the band, and getting gigs around the area. Her short-term goal is to continue learning, improving, gaining experience, and putting herself out there in the music world. Her long-term goal is to hopefully become a very well-known musician performing at big venues one day, such as Madison Square Garden, SoFi Stadium, TD Garden, and many more music venues worldwide. She would also like to have an acting career performing for Broadway and acting in Hollywood movies one day! Jessi Rose is a very driven, ambitious, motivating, inspiring, and hard-working person, she doesn’t give up. She wants to prove to others that you can do anything you have a passion for, which she has for her passion for music.

Jessi Rose,

What Musical Genre Do You Feel Best Describes Your Music And How Would You Describe Your Sound?

My music blends the energy and intensity of hard rock with the accessibility of pop, creating a dynamic and engaging sound. I focus on crafting unique melodies and compelling beats to ensure each song remains memorable, whether it carries a somber or uplifting tone. My songwriting is rooted in relatability, drawing from shared human experiences to create music that resonates with listeners. Above all, I strive to provide a safe and comforting space through my music, allowing people to connect, find solace, and feel at ease

How Did You Get Your Name? Is There A Story?

My last name has always been difficult to pronounce and spell, which became an issue when I first released music—voice assistants like Alexa, Google, and Siri couldn’t recognize it when I asked them to play my songs. My middle name, Rose, holds deep meaning for me, as it was given in honor of both of my grandmothers, who recently passed and were very dear to me. Using ‘Rose’ in my stage name felt like a way to keep their spirit alive. I’ve always gone by Jess instead of Jessica, and while brainstorming a name that felt right, my co-writer Jim, who helped me write ‘Shadows Within Me,’ casually called me Jessi. It stuck instantly, and ‘Jessi Rose’ had the perfect ring—simple, memorable, and true to who I am

What Are or Have Been Your Musical Influences?

My musical influences span a wide range of genres, from rock and metal to pop and classic hits. Some of the artists and bands that have inspired me include Lady Gaga, Elton John, Demi Lovato, Halestorm, The Pretty Reckless, Bon Jovi, Coldplay, Journey, AC/DC, Mötley Crüe, Nirvana, Green Day, Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin, Poison, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, KISS, The Warning, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Pat Benatar, Lita Ford, Joan Jett, Billy Joel, P!nk, Scorpions, Paramore, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Daughtry, The Beatles, Metallica, Iron Maiden, System of a Down, Ghost, Queen, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars, Adele, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and Katy Perry. The list could go on, but as you can see, I draw inspiration from a variety of incredible artists, each contributing to the diversity and depth of my own musical style.

What Are You Working On Now? Any Future Collaborations We Can Look Forward To?

I recently completed recording the songs for my upcoming EP and am preparing for its release. I’m currently awaiting the final track from my producer, and once everything is finalized, I’ll be announcing the official release date soon. Stay tuned for more updates—I’m excited to share this music with you!

What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? What Is Your Plan Of Action?

My ultimate goal in the music industry is to make my passion for music my primary career, achieving a level of success where I can share my art with a global audience. I aspire to become a well-known artist, performing at iconic venues such as Madison Square Garden, TD Garden, SoFi Stadium, Citi Field, MetLife Stadium, UBS Arena, Mohegan Sun, and many more. Beyond personal success, my mission is to inspire others through my music, creating meaningful connections with listeners worldwide.`

What Is Your Favorite Track To Perform Live and Why?

My favorite track to perform live depends on whether it’s a cover or an original. For covers, I love performing ‘Zombie’ by The Cranberries—its raw emotion and powerful message always create an incredible connection with the audience. It also gets my adrenaline going and is best suited for my voice with my style singing it. For my original music, ‘My Own Worst Enemy’ is my favorite to play because of its energy and the personal meaning behind it. Both songs allow me to fully immerse myself in the performance and engage with the crowd in a special way.

What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus Far?

One of the biggest challenges in my career so far has been navigating the highly competitive nature of the music industry. With so much talent out there, standing out requires constant effort, especially when it comes to promotion. Social media is a crucial tool for getting discovered, but it’s not my favorite aspect of the job. Additionally, booking gigs can be challenging—reaching out to restaurants, bars, and music venues often involves countless calls, emails, and follow-ups. It can be frustrating when venues don’t respond or are already booked for the year, but I remain persistent in creating opportunities to share my music with the world.

What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?

My songwriting process happens naturally and often at the most unexpected moments—whether I’m in the shower, driving, or at the gym. When inspiration strikes, I make sure to record a voice memo on my phone to capture the lyrics or melody before I forget. I honestly don’t know how musicians managed before technology! Ideas also come to me while playing around on my guitar, especially during warm-ups at gigs, when I might stumble upon a riff that sparks a new song. Ultimately, my writing is fueled by inspiration, whether it comes from a significant moment in my life, an emotional experience, or simply a creative spark.

How Has Social Media Influenced Your Career As An Artist?

Social media has played a significant role in my journey as an artist. I follow both famous and local musicians to stay updated on their plans and see what’s working for them. In the past, I struggled with comparing myself to others, often thinking they were more talented, but I’ve since shifted my mindset. Now, I focus on being inspired by their ideas and seeing how I can incorporate those insights into my own music journey. It’s a great way to improve, connect, and support fellow musicians, knowing we all share the same dreams. I also use social media as a platform to connect with other artists for potential collaborations, whether it’s songwriting or jamming together.

What Are Some Tracks and Artists Currently On Your Playlist?

All the artists and bands I mentioned in the previous responses are featured on my playlists. Their music is timeless, and I find myself constantly returning to their tracks for inspiration and enjoyment. Their influence is something I’ll always carry with me as an artist.

What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music?

Before I began making music, I attended college and earned a degree with a focus on graphic design and photography. While I’m skilled in those areas, I realized that they weren’t my true passion, despite excelling in them. However, the experience has proven valuable in promoting my music business. I’ve applied those skills to build my own branding and have even helped other artists with theirs. I don’t regret my academic background because it allows me to manage my own music branding—designing my logo, business cards, album covers, website, social media posts, and even taking my own photos. It’s been a lot of work, but it’s also saved me money. Moving forward, I’d love to expand my skill set by learning music production so I can release new music more frequently.

Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?

My advice for young people wanting to succeed in the music world is to stay true to yourself and keep pushing forward, no matter the challenges. The music industry is competitive, but your unique voice and passion are what will set you apart. Don’t be afraid to take risks and experiment with your sound—your journey will be personal, and that’s what will make your music stand out. Also, networking is key, so build genuine relationships with other musicians and industry professionals. Lastly, be persistent and never give up, even when things get tough. Success won’t happen overnight, but if you keep working hard and stay focused on your goals, you’ll get there.

What Would You Change In The Music Industry If You Were A Top Music Executive?

If I were a top music executive, I would focus on creating more opportunities for independent artists to thrive without the need for a major label. The industry can sometimes feel like a closed-off space, especially for emerging talent, so I would work on expanding platforms for artists to showcase their work and connect with their audience directly. I’d also push for more diversity and inclusion across all genres and roles within the industry, ensuring that voices from different backgrounds are heard and celebrated. Finally, I’d advocate for better transparency in contracts and deals, helping artists protect their creative work and ensure they are fairly compensated for their efforts.

How Do You Feel About Originality?

Originality is everything to me. As an artist, I believe it’s important to stay true to your unique voice and creative vision. While it’s natural to be inspired by others, it’s essential to carve out your own path and contribute something fresh to the world of music. Originality not only sets you apart, but it also helps you connect with listeners on a deeper level, as they can feel the authenticity in your work. It’s about being fearless in expressing who you are and what you stand for, and not being afraid to take risks and push boundaries.

Is There Anything Else We Should Know About You Or That You Would Like to Add?

I think the most important thing to know about me is that I’m passionate about both my music and the connections I can build with others through it. For me, music isn’t just about creating songs—it’s about creating a space where people can feel understood and inspired. I’m always striving to grow and learn, not just as an artist, but as a person. I also love the process of collaborating with other artists and sharing ideas. Ultimately, my goal is to continue to create music that resonates with people and helps them feel connected, whether through joy, reflection, or shared experiences.
